Management Team

Michael D. LeClair
Chief Executive Officer and President - Babcock Power Inc.
Mike LeClair, 45, promoted to the role of President and CEO of Babcock Power in June of 2009. Started with Vogt Power International in 1999 as Vice President of Engineering, then promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Vogt Power International in 2002 and from 2006 to 2009 held the position of President and CEO of Vogt Power International. From 1986 to 1998 Mr. LeClair held a variety of senior operating positions with major companies in the power generation industry, including; Combustion Engineering/ABB, Tampella/Steinmüller and Kvaerner. Areas of success within these organizations included; international boiler services and production, business development and engineering. Mr. LeClair received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and his MBA from Western New England College.

Stephen Kapsalis
President - Vogt Power International
Steve Kapsalis, 52, joined Babcock Power in July of 2009 as Chief Operating Officer and in November 2009 he assumed the role of President and CEO of Vogt Power. Prior to joining Babcock Power, Mr. Kapsalis served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of American Air Filtration International (AAF) International. AAF International, based in Louisville, KY, is a multi-national company in the air filtration, air pollution control, and gas turbine ancillary equipment industries. Mr. Kapsalis also held the roles of Vice President & General Manager of AAF’s Global Environmental Products Division and Vice President & General Manager of AAF Europe. Prior to joining AAF, he served as President of Winter Welding and Machine Corporation. He also held positions at Pullman Power Products Corporation and Bechtel Power Corporation. Mr. Kapsalis is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Civil Engineering Program at the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering with expected graduation in 2011.

Jim Dougherty
PresidentBabcock Power Environmental Inc.
Jim Dougherty joined Babcock Power in March 2002 as President of Babcock Power Environmental. Mr. Dougherty has a broad range of experience in large capital projects, project management, and plant operations. Mr. Dougherty is a co-inventor on three patents for plant operations. Prior to joining Babcock Power, Mr. Dougherty was Senior Vice President of Engineering and Construction for Wheelabrator Technologies, Inc. In this capacity, he managed large retrofit projects, engineered solutions, and conducted complex contract negotiations. Previously at Wheelabrator, Mr. Dougherty served in various positions in plant operations, including the management of 16 independent power plant.. Mr. Dougherty received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY.

Edward Dean
PresidentBabcock Power Services
Edward Dean, 58, currently the President of Babcock Power Services, joined the company in 2008 as Vice President of the Western Region for Babcock Power Sales. Mr. Dean has extensive background in project and construction management and in all aspects of the boiler retrofit and services business. Mr. Dean previously served as the Executive Vice President, Power Services & Construction for the Foster Wheeler Power Group, and also led the Central Region Power Services business unit as Regional Vice President. Mr. Dean has also worked for Tampella Power Corp. as Director of Project Management and served as Director of Project Management & Construction Services for ABB Canada and in various operations and management roles within the construction services division over a 19-year career with Combustion Engineering/ABB. Mr. Dean received his Bachelors degree from California State University, Long Beach.

Jon Koenig
PresidentThermal Engineering International (USA) Inc.
Jon Koenig, 47, became President of Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. in January of 2006. Mr. Koenig’s prior experience includes; Chief Operating Officer for TEi from October 2005 until January 2006, Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Babcock Power and President of Babcock Power Sales from 2003 until 2005. Prior to 2003 Mr. Koenig served in various positions including Proposal Engineer, Regional Sales Manager, General Sales Manger, and Chief Operating Officer for power plant heat exchangers and President of BDT Services. Mr. Koenig initially joined Thermal Engineering in 1987. Prior to joining Thermal Engineering, Mr. Koenig worked for Alfa Laval and Nalco Chemical in the early 1990s. Mr. Koenig has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at San Diego and a Masters in Business from the University of Southern California.

Tony Brandano
Chief Financial Officer Babcock Power Inc.
Tony Brandano, 46, currently the CFO of Babcock Power Inc. joined the company in 2001. Previously, Mr. Brandano’s responsibilities included world wide financial reporting and audit coordination for Babcock Power Capital Corporation and its affiliates. Prior to joining Babcock Power Inc., Mr. Brandano had extensive experience working with several publicly traded companies, including Palomar Medical Technologies (NASDAQ: PMTI), where he served as Vice President of Finance; NaviSite (NASDAQ: NAVI) and iCast, both subsidiaries of the CMGI Group (NASDAQ: CMGI), where he served as Vice President of Finance and CFO, respectively. Mr. Brandano began his career at Arthur Andersen in Boston where he became a Senior Manager in the High Technology practice where he was involved in a number of public offerings. Mr. Brandano is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting from Merrimack College, North Andover, MA.

William Ferguson Jr.
Senior Vice President – Administration, General Counsel and SecretaryBabcock Power Inc.
William Ferguson Jr., 59, is the Senior Vice President – Administration, General Counsel and Secretary of Babcock Power Inc. Prior to joining Babcock Power, Mr. Ferguson was a partner in the law firm of McCarter & English LLP. He previously was the Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Raytheon Engineers & Constructors International, Inc. Before joining Raytheon, Mr. Ferguson practiced engineering and construction law as a partner in the Boston, Massachusetts office of Gadsby & Hannah and, prior to that, as a partner in the McLean, Virginia office of Watt, Tieder, Killian & Hoffar. Mr. Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School.

Kumar Gopathi
Senior Vice President – Corporate Global supply Chain Management Babcock Power Inc.
Kumar Gopathi, 59, has recently assumed the role of Senior Vice President, Corporate Global Supply Chain Management. In this role, he leads activities of Corporate Manufacturing, Global Sourcing, Supply Management and Quality groups for the Babcock Power Group of companies. In 2004, he joined BPI as Global Sourcing Director and in 2009 was elevated to Vice President, Global Strategic Sourcing to head BPI Corporate Sourcing group. He joined Vogt Power in 1992 and has held various management positions including; Manager of Field Services, and Director of International Operations. Mr. Gopathi has more than 35 years experience in the power industry and is a specialist in international supply chain arena. He has received a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee; and Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras (India). He has also achieved the recognition of Certified Purchasing Manager (Life time).

Scott Leeman
Vice President and Assistant TreasurerBabcock Power Inc.
Scott Leeman, 43, joined Babcock Power Inc. as Vice President of Tax & Treasury & Assistant Treasurer in February of 2001. Mr. Leeman is responsible for the planning and coordination of the corporate tax function as well as the administration and execution of all treasury related operations including banking, investment strategy, and cash management. Prior to joining Babcock Power Mr. Leeman was the Vice President of Tax & Treasury of C&K Components Inc., a $100 million manufacturer of electromechanical switches that was subsequently acquired by ITT Cannon in July of 2000. Mr. Leeman also held the position of Director of Tax & Treasury Operations for Nashua Corporation (recently acquired by Cenveo Inc.), a diversified manufacturing company of specialty papers and labels. Mr. Leeman, a Certified Public Accountant, began his career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP in Boston where he was a senior auditor and tax manager. He holds an undergraduate degree in accountancy and a Masters of Science in Taxation from Bentley University.

Andrew J. Finizio
Vice President Finance and Strategic OperationsBabcock Power Inc.
Andy Finizio, 40, currently the VP of Strategic Operations and Finance of Babcock Power, joined the Company in 2004. Prior to assuming the Strategic Operations role, Mr. Finizio’s responsibilities included financial planning, reporting and audit coordination for Babcock. Prior to working at Babcock Power, Mr. Finizio had extensive audit and consulting experience working with several publicly traded and privately held companies during his time with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he served as a Senior Manager in the Insurance / Banking practice. During this time, Mr Finizio was involved in a number of public offering and private placements. Mr. Finizio is a Certified Public Accountant, holds an M.B.A. from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University.

Richard R. Rochester
Vice President – Internal Accounting ControlsBabcock Power Inc.
Richard Rochester, 49 is Babcock Power’s Vice President of Internal Controls. Rick is responsible for establishing and maintaining the company’s Risk, Governance and Compliance framework. He joined Babcock Power in 2007. Prior to joining Babcock Power Mr. Rochester was a Partner with the auditing firm Altran Control Solutions where he provided clients with value added internal audit, governance and risk management services. In addition, he served as Regional Finance manager for Watsco, Inc. (NYSE: WSO) and he gained significant experiences in accounting and manufacturing working for; United Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UTX) in the Corporate Internal Audit department, as a Caribbean Region Controller for Carrier Air Conditioning and Controller for Carrier’s Unitary Product division. Mr. Rochester is a Certified Public Accountant and has earned an M.B.A and B.S.B.A in Accounting from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH.

Doyle Thresher
Vice President – Corporate Manufacturing Management Babcock Power Inc.
Doyle Thresher, 62 joined Babcock Power Inc. as Vice President of Manufacturing – Americas in August of 2009. Mr. Thresher is responsible for all aspects of Babcock Power’s Americas based manufacturing facilities. During Mr. Thresher’s thirty plus years of manufacturing management experience, he has worked for Rheem, Vogt Power, Yuasa-Exide, Trane and Yuba Heat Transfer manufactures of: pressure vessels / boilers / HRSG, commercial water heaters, HVAC equipment, and commercial / industrial lead acid batteries. Mr. Thresher received his Bachelor of Administration degree from Southwest University in Louisiana and was President of the Fort Smith, AR – Manufacturing Executive Association from 2007-08, he is also a member of the Joint City and Military Task Force, University of Arkansas FS, Operations Management degree board and is a State Director for the Arkansas Manufacturing Alliance / State Chamber of Commerce.
