Power infrastructure is the foundation of every data center campus.
Before a single server is installed, developers must ensure reliable electrical supply capable of supporting the facility’s full operational load. For hyperscale and AI campuses, that load can reach hundreds of megawatts.
Delivering this level of power requires extensive infrastructure, including:
- High-voltage substations
- Transmission line connections
- Switchyards and transformers
- Protection and control systems
- Utility coordination and grid integration
Constructing and energizing this infrastructure is often one of the most complex and schedule-critical aspects of a data center project.
Substations and transmission systems must be carefully integrated with both utility networks and on-site infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable operation. These systems also need to be scalable to support future campus expansion.
As data center campuses continue to grow in size and capacity, the ability to design, construct, and commission high-voltage infrastructure efficiently will remain a key driver of successful development.
