Moisture Separator Reheater (MSR), which removes the moisture from the HP turbine and reheats the steam before returning it to the LP turbine, must deal with very complicated and aggressive two-phase flow, both shell-side and tube-side.

TEi internally funded its own multi-million dollar research and development program, which included system analysis, development of new analytical software, model testing, and advanced fabrication techniques. The outcome of this program was tremendously successful, resulting in MSRs of greatly improved performance and reliability.

Our MSR “specialists” are uniquely qualified to diagnose, repair, upgrade, or replace any unit in such a way that ensures the end users the most cost-effective solution to any MSR problem. Additionally, TEi MSR technology can play an important role in plant life extension programs.
As a result of our ongoing research program, increases in performance and cost-savings have often been dramatic. Plant output increases from 3 MW to 20 MW have been clearly demonstrated in many cases. In such cases, the cost of an MSR upgrade is paid for in a very short time, with tremendous cumulative net benefits. Our MSR customer list includes electric utilities from around the world; over 400 MSR replacement bundles and moisture separation systems have been installed in the USA, Canada, China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Belgium, Spain, Slovenia, Romania, and Slovakia.
