Heat Recovery Technology for Environmental Efficiency

Danvers, MA – Vogt Power International Inc. (Vogt), located in Louisville, KY, a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., based in Danvers, MA, has received a Limited Notice to Proceed from Black & Veatch (Thailand) Ltd. to supply Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) and associated equipment for two Combined Cycle Power Plants, Electric Generating Authority of Thailand’s (EGAT) Wang Noi Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 4, located in Ayutthaya, Thailand, and the Chana Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 2, located in Songkhla, Thailand.

Vogt Power will design and deliver two (2) unfired, three pressure level HRSGs with reheat for operation behind Siemens SGT5-4000F gas turbines, for each location. Babcock Power’s newly opened office in Bangkok, Thailand will participate in the execution of the projects. EGAT has developed a Power Development Plan, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting efficient energy utilization and electricity production through cogeneration systems. The addition of Vogt’s HRSG technology at the Combined Cycle generating units will further enhance the effectiveness of this project.

“We are pleased to be selected by Black & Veatch to provide our HRSGs to Electric Generating Authority of Thailand’s combined-cycle plants. Vogt’s HRSG technology will be a valuable addition to the continuing shift to cogeneration, creating cleaner and more efficient energy,” stated Steve Kapsalis, President and CEO of Vogt Power International.

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand was established on May 1, 1969 by the promulgation of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand Act B.E. 2511 which merged assets and operations of the three previous state enterprises, namely Yanhee Electricity Authority, Lignite Authority and the Northeast Electricity Authority. It presently is the state enterprise under the Ministry of Energy. EGAT presently builds, owns and operates several types and sizes of power plants across the country with a combined installed capacity of 13,617.10 MW, accounting for about 47.8 percent of the country’s 28,479.00 MW generating capacity.
